WEDDINGS

At weddings, we would have to fine tune our performance to best suite your situation and taste. Usually at a minimum, we will the bride in, and pipe the bride and groom out after the ceremony. When you have a bagpiper present, you usually will want to have him / her provide music as the wedding party walks up the aisle (brides maids, ring bearer, mothers of the bride / groom, etc.). We will usually play at the back of the room as this takes place, then march in front of the bride and lead her up the aisle. At that point, the piper would stand at attention, off to the side, as the ceremony begins and takes place. After the ceremony, the piper will lead the couple out to a location of your choice (reception hall, banquet room, etc.). Prior to the ceremony, we would also be willing to play as your guests arrive (approx. 10-15 minutes before the ceremony begins). This will set the tone for the environment and adds a nice touch to your wedding.

If you are choosing to have a private ceremony and would like the bagpiper to perform at the celebration / reception party only, we are available for this as well.

However, because this is your day and we want it to be your way, we are open to any suggestions that you have, and will try to accommodate any requests that you make.

FUNERALS

At funerals, we can play at the funeral service as well as the grave site, if the service is taking place in two different locations. At the grave site, we will pipe the casket from the funeral coach to the grave site. We would then allow you to proceed with the grave site service with a dedication of the grave, if you choose to do so. Immediately after the dedication, we would strike up the pipes and play Amazing Grace through twice (or Danny Boy, or whatever you would like for that matter). Following the dedication tune, without stopping, we would start into a going home tribute tune and march away into the distance.

The history behind this tradition is that the spirit of a highlander remains with the body until he / she is satisfied that all the traditions have been observed.  As the casket is carried to the place of internment, a piper wil play a lament to release the spirit from the body.  When the spirit of the departed is satisfied, he / she departs into paradise.  The piper then strikes up a spritely march and marches away, satisfied that another highlander has been piped just to their reward.

If the pipes were chosen to be present at the actual service (different location than the grave site), we would pipe the casket from the doors of the building (church / mortuary) to the funeral coach and would continue to play until the doors of the funeral coach are closed.

Because this may be the hardest day of your life to deal with, we are open to any suggestions and request that you may have, and will try to accommodate your requests in any way we can.

PARTIES / GATHERINGS

At parties, get-togethers, small / large gatherings, school / charity events, etc, we are open to any suggestion that you may have. Usually at events of this nature, we will put on a 30 - 40 minute presentation that includes some bagpiping, the history of the bagpipes, description of the uniform and it significance, as well as a little activity and treat for the kids, if kids are attending. Please call with any suggestions you may have.
