The Redpipes are the worlds first, fully electronic bagpipes. The term "electronic bagpipe" in the past, was actually an electronic bagpipe chanter. Everyone referred to the electronic bagpipe chanter as an "electronic bagpipe." This is not the case with the Redpipes. Manufactured in Germany, the Redpipes look and feel identical to a traditional set of bagpipes. The Redpipes bag is pressure sensative to allow for drone strike in, then the chanter. The user friendly control panel allows the player to play the Redpipes in any key (each key is pitch adjustable), with full volume control of the drones, including an additional baritone drone, if the player desires. The onboard micro-processor produces a sound that is identical to the traditional sound of the highland bagpipes. The player also has the option to play in the sound of the small pipes or middle age bagpipes as well. The Redpipes can be plugged into any set of headphones, amplifier, studio mixing board, etc. The Redpipes also contain a MIDI output for connecting to sound generators and other MIDI equipment.
Available in:
Classic Version (classic bag & chanter - shown
upper left),
Avalon Version (midievil bagpipe with 1 or 2 drones -
shown upper middle) with optional dragon head (shown - upper right),
Caledonia Version (highland bagpipe with optional blowstick and
drones - shown lower left),
Metal Version (fantisy bagpipe with 2
drones - shown lower middle) or
Pipa Version (sweedish bagpipe with 1
drone, available in red or black - shown lower right).
The Classic, Metal and Pipa Versions are equipped with sealed bags and do not require blowing of any kind. The blowsticks are simply for show and do not serve as any part of the functionality of these models.
The Avalon and Caledonia Versions do require blowing, similar to the highland bagpipes. The air disapates through a built in valve installed in the bag.
Caledonia Version is available with or without blowstick & drones. Blowstick and drones are polypenco and manufactured by McCallum Bagpipes. If no blowstick and drones are chosen, blowstick and drones from any set of Highland Bagpipes are compatible to use with the Redpipes.
Classic Version (upper left) available in red or black.
Avalon Version
(lower left) only available in light brown / tan.
Caledonia Version only
available in black.
Metal Version only available in dark brown/black
(metal).
Pipa Version only available in red.
